The future of tunnel construction: BauBots drill ahead

Autobahn GmbH's Southwest branch is currently carrying out extensive structural and operational upgrades to the Engelberg Tunnel in Leonberg, located in the southwest German state of Baden-Württemberg. Three fischer BauBots were used for this project. The construction robots fully automatically drilled more than 9,000 holes — each with a diameter of 20 mm and a depth of 240 mm — at heights of up to 7.5 m. This improved efficiency and precision during fastening tasks.

High-tech meets thrill

In Europa-Park in Rust near Freiburg, Germany, the fastening expert fischer is testing its Construction Monitoring solution in a pilot operation. Five bolted joints on the seat consoles of the roller coaster “blue fire Megacoaster” were supplemented with SensorBolts, which feature integrated force measurement and transmission technology. This allows the products to be tested in the pilot application under very demanding operating conditions. The seat fastenings on the roller coaster are repeatedly subjected to high forces. Should the fischer Construction Monitoring solution prove itself in this project, it will be able to enhance the Europa-Park’s safety concept in the future.

Rock-solid anchoring on the Wildhauser Schafberg

Fynn Renner, Head of Advanced Training at the Konstanz youth division of the German Alpine Club (JDAV), and his team have successfully replaced a total of 38 existing safety hooks with new ones on the climbing route “No water, no moon” on the Wildhauser Schafberg (Switzerland). The fischer FIS V Plus was used and ensures long-lasting strength and longevity. The high-performance mortar was used to install so-called adhesive hooks (also known as Bühler hooks). The composite system is firmly bonded to the rock face and achieves a permanently secure hold. A decisive factor, because every single anchor point is vital in climbing.
