From a total of 609 new products submitted, the miniMINT Gyro Drive from fischertechnik was selected by an independent jury of experts as one of the three best products in its category. This means that the new miniMINT product from fischertechnik has been nominated for the ToyAward 2026 in the SchoolKids category (6 to 10 years). This is an absolute first and a groundbreaking innovation for fischertechnik, as it is the first time the company has combined technical toys with FSC-certified wood and a clear sustainability concept.
The nomination confirms fischertechnik's claim to arouse curiosity and impart a basic understanding of technology using simple and understandable principles. At the same time, it shows that educational play concepts do not have to be expensive and, above all, can be a lot of fun. Managing Director Martin Rogler emphasises that it is precisely the combination of a clear idea, high comprehensibility and great play value that sets the Gyro Drive apart – and that at a deliberately low price of less than ten euros.
"We are delighted with the recognition from the expert jury and it encourages us to develop innovative products that make technology tangible and give children the joy of discovery," says Martin Rogler. The ToyAward is one of the most prestigious awards in the international toy industry. An independent jury of experts from various disciplines evaluates the submitted
products according to criteria such as play value, originality, safety, workmanship, comprehensibility and market potential. Even the nomination is considered an important seal of quality and attracts a high level of international attention to the selected products.
With the new miniMINT wooden construction kits, fischertechnik is breaking new ground. For the first time, precision-manufactured, FSC-certified wooden elements are being combined with simple electronics and solar modules. The twelve different kits give children aged eight and above a playful introduction to topics such as renewable energies, mechanical processes and physical balance. Three of the models are powered exclusively by sunlight, bringing sustainable energy to life. All twelve
products have one thing in common: they are extremely fun to build and play with.
Thanks to their attractive price, the kits are ideal as gifts, educational toys or joint projects for the whole family. In addition to children, adults who enjoy building will also get their money's worth. The carefully crafted wooden components promote dexterity, logical thinking and technical understanding – and at the same time stand for a conscious, sustainable use of materials.
