Out of a total of 609 new products submitted, the fischertechnik’s miniMINT Gyro Drive was selected by an independent expert jury as one of the top three products in its category. This means that fischertechnik’s new miniMINT product has been nominated for the 2026 ToyAward in the SchoolKids category (ages 6 to 10). This is an absolute first and, at the same time, a groundbreaking innovation for fischertechnik, as the set teaches children in a playful way how electrical energy is generated using a galvanic cell.
The nomination confirms fischertechnik’s commitment to sparking curiosity and imparting a basic understanding of technology through simple and easy-to-understand principles. At the same time, it shows that educationally valuable play concepts do not have to be expensive and, above all, can be great fun. Managing Director Martin Rogler emphasises that it is precisely the combination of a clear concept, high comprehensibility and great play value that sets the Gyro Drive apart – and all at a deliberately low price of under ten euros.

With the new miniMINT wooden construction kits, fischertechnik is breaking new ground. For the first time, precision-manufactured, FSC-certified wooden components are combined with simple electronics and solar modules. The twelve different kits offer children aged eight and over a playful introduction to topics such as renewable energy, mechanical processes and physical balance. Three of the models are powered exclusively by sunlight, allowing children to experience first-hand how sunlight can be used to generate energy.
