fischertechnik sets another milestone in technical education. With the new STEM Coding Ultimate AI learning concept, it is now possible for the first time to train a neural network yourself and understand how it works from the ground up. fischertechnik is thus teaching young people the programming and AI skills of the future – directly in the classroom and without a cloud connection.
The STEM Coding Ultimate AI construction kit is aimed at secondary schools and teaches the basics of machine learning and AI-supported robotics in a hands-on way. Using twelve versatile, partially expandable models, secondary school students explore key issues in information technology and artificial intelligence. Based on realistic scenarios, they independently develop solutions for complex, problem-oriented tasks. A powerful controller, modern sensors and actuators, a user-friendly app and the proven fischertechnik building blocks provide practical access to advanced technologies.
The first training steps can be displayed graphically immediately, allowing learners to track their progress. The trained data can then be transferred via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or USB to robots that visualise what has been learned in real-world applications – for example, based on the principle of an autonomous vehicle. This makes abstract knowledge tangible and turns theory into practical experience.
Teachers are provided with accompanying teaching materials to help them get started with the topic.
This approach is particularly valuable because it promotes so-called future skills such as project-oriented work and teamwork, which are indispensable in an increasingly digitalised working world. Dealing with artificial intelligence, understanding neural networks and the ability to independently collect, analyse and utilise data are among the key skills of the next generation. Pupils not only learn the technical basics, but also develop a deep understanding of how AI makes decisions. They acquire basic knowledge of neural networks and AI programming – knowledge that is relevant far beyond the school context. In addition, pupils expand their knowledge of computer science and robotics and learn to understand how actuators and sensors work.
The integration of Robo Pro Coding and the fischertechnik STEM Suite enables a smooth introduction to Blockly programming and, at the same time, direct insight into professional programming languages such as Python. The new construction kit works locally on the TXT 4.0 controller – without the need for the cloud. This provides schools with a future-proof tool that can be used for years to come.
"In line with our motto: where curiosity becomes knowledge, our STEM Coding Ultimate AI learning concept gives students the opportunity not only to consume artificial intelligence, but also to actively shape and understand it," explains Martin Rogler, Managing Director of fischertechnik. "Because those who learn the basics of AI at an early age will have a decisive advantage in their studies, careers and society tomorrow."
The year 2025 also marks a special anniversary: 60 years of fischertechnik. For six decades, the company has been inspiring generations of inventors, engineers and researchers to discover and understand technology in a playful way. As the successor to the TXT Base Set, the new STEM Coding Ultimate AI construction kit continues this tradition and takes it into the future – with an innovation that combines the fascination of classic construction kits with the technologies of tomorrow. In the spirit of sustainability, STEM Coding Ultimate AI is also compatible with all available TXT 4.0 Base Set add-ons for Omniwheels, Industrial Robots, AI, IoT, Competition and Autonomous Driving.
With this step, fischertechnik is making a decisive contribution to promoting creativity and problem-solving skills as well as understanding future technologies. The result is a product that not only meets current educational needs, but also carries on the spirit of the brand for 60 years: technology to touch, understand and design.
