Higher energy efficiency, lower operating costs and an important contribution to a climate-neutral building stock – external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS) are now standard in new construction and are increasingly used in renovation projects. With TherMax II, the fastening specialist fischer offers the latest generation of its proven stand-off installation system to securely fasten attachments to ETICS with virtually no heat loss. The system impresses with reliable driving rain resistance, approved adjustability, easy application without special tools, and the ability to compensate for angled drill holes.

Whether awnings, canopies, French balcony railings, air-conditioning units or satellite dishes – when installing attachments on ETICS, the fastening must anchor into the base material behind the insulation without creating a thermal bridge in the façade. The fischer TherMax II versions with M12 and M16 threaded rods make exactly that possible: approval-compliant anchoring of heavy loads with thermal separation on insulated exterior walls and ceiling front sides. The threaded rods made of electrogalvanized steel or stainless steel bridge insulation thicknesses from 60 to 300 mm in concrete and up to 250 mm in hollow masonry units, without impairing thermal protection. Together with the fischer injection mortars FIS V Plus, FIS SB, FIS EM Plus and FIS V Zero, they can be securely anchored in concrete, aerated concrete and hollow and solid masonry. The anti-cold cone made of glass-fibre-reinforced high-performance plastic interrupts the thermal bridge between the attachment and the anchorage in the base material – for optimized energy efficiency. During installation, the self-cutting cone mills positively through the plaster into the insulation. This enables simple, fast and safe application. For more resistant plaster, an attachable cutting blade is available. All TherMax II components located outside the insulation are made of stainless steel. The M12 threaded rod for clamping thicknesses up to 16 mm is adjustable and features a 6 mm hex drive; optional thread reducing pins for M10 or M8 are available.

The new generation of the fischer stand-off installation system offers additional features. The elastic EPDM sealing ring is placed onto the anti-cold cone at the end of installation. This ensures that the seal is not damaged by the plaster during application – a clear advantage over conventional systems. The result is secure sealing, reliable splash-water tightness and true driving rain resistance. This ensures long-term functionality. And thanks to the new cover cap and the EPDM sealing ring, no additional sealing of the annular gap with elastic sealant or adhesive is required.

Due to the articulated connection between the anti-cold cone with rounded head and the cover cap, users can compensate for angled drill holes of up to 5° when using TherMax II. For precise alignment of the system, the anti-cold cone and the threaded pin can be adjusted afterwards without expensive special tools, allowing unevenness in the wall surface to be compensated. This offers maximum flexibility and is also covered by the approval – providing real safety. The optimized geometry of the anti-cold cone allows precise and easy milling into the ETICS without damaging insulation or plaster. This simplifies installation and guarantees clean, durable and secure fastening.
With the new thermal separation module, fischer thus presents a thoroughly well-designed solution for fixings to ETICS – entirely without additional sealing work.

TherMax 8 and 10 for medium loads
For medium-weight attachments – such as lights, mailboxes or lightning protection elements – the TherMax 8 and 10 variants are available. They bridge insulation thicknesses from 45 mm to 240 mm and consist of fischer UX 10 or UX 12 universal plugs, an electrogalvanized stud screw (M8 or M10) and an anti-cold cone to minimize heat loss. The annular gap on TherMax 8 and 10 is neatly sealed with sealing adhesive and a special cover cap. Installation requires no special tools; the milling head automatically cuts through plaster and insulation. Negative tolerances in the wall build-up of up to 20 mm can be easily compensated – eliminating time-consuming adjustments such as cutting distance sleeves. TherMax 8 and 10 offer a wide range of connection options for different applications: 4.5 to 6 mm chipboard screws (with the compatible SX Plus expansion plug 5 to 5.5 mm chipboard screws), 6.3 mm sheet-metal screws as well as metric screws in M6, M8 and M10. The UX plugs anchor securely in all common solid and hollow building materials; in timber substructures, the stud screw can be installed directly without a plug.
