The winners were announced during a celebratory event in Brussels in front of a large audience from the toy industry and EU politics. Laurenz Wohlfarth accepted the award on behalf of fischertechnik. “We’re really pleased to have received this fantastic award. It serves as confirmation that we convey pioneering technologies in a playful manner”, states the international Head of Sales at fischertechnik. The 117-part fischertechnik H2 Fuel Cell Car construction kit transports fuel cell technology straight into kids’ rooms. Young discoverers and tinkerers can generate their own hydrogen to fuel a vehicle.

The awards are the result of in-depth consultations among an independent jury panel consisting of experts in diversity and integration, sustainability and life skills. fischertechnik achieved first place in the Life Skills category.

The Toy Industries of Europe (TIE) association launched the Play for Change awards in 1991 in order to recognise companies that manufacture innovative toys in the fields of sustainability, diversity and inclusion and life skills. The award looks out for products that help children confidently navigate the world around them in ways that show respect for themselves, for others and for our planet.
