The Philippines faces a major challenge: how to create urgently needed housing, modern transportation routes, and efficient industrial facilities when earthquakes and typhoons place special demands on buildings and infrastructure?
In the Southeast Asian island nation, the future is closely linked to connections: between islands and cities, between established neighborhoods and new living spaces, between grand plans and what ultimately holds up. Over the past two decades, urbanization, housing construction, and infrastructure expansion have transformed the construction industry. New transportation routes, residential districts, and industrial facilities represent the change across the vast archipelago of 7,641 islands. New subway and railway lines can set daily life in motion; earthquake-resistant retrofitting of buildings focuses on what is meant to last.

The high risk of earthquakes and typhoons in the Philippines places special demands on fastening and system solutions. In addition, moisture and salty coastal air require corrosion protection that corresponds to the local conditions. Therefore, when modernizing the island nation, it is not only important what is newly created, but also how resilient it is: structures must better withstand earthquakes and typhoons, be permanently resistant to local environmental influences, and protect people in the long term.

For such extreme applications, fischer offers several fastening solutions, including chemical fastening solutions such as injection mortar, which can be used with anchor rods. In addition, the fischer range also includes some steel anchors suitable for seismic anchoring. Furthermore, products from the areas of structural repair, fire protection, as well as installation and facade systems play an increasingly important role in the future of the Philippine construction industry. The corporate group has been represented in the Philippines with its own local company since 2016.

What is rarely in demand in the Philippines, however, is the individual product, but rather the interplay of suitable materials, transparent planning, and professional installation. Local partnerships and consideration of Philippine construction requirements are just as important as technical knowledge. Thus, the next phase of the Philippine construction history could be about not only what is newly created but also what endures over time.
