With the new logistics centre in Spain, fischer is strengthening its commitment to the Iberian Peninsula. The state-of-the-art logistics infrastructure increases warehouse capacity by 50 percent. With the opening of the new logistics centre in Mont-roig del Camp (Tarragona region), the fischer Group of Companies is significantly expanding its presence on the Iberian Peninsula. The state-of-the-art infrastructure increases warehouse capacity by 50 percent and forms a new strategic hub for sales in Spain, Portugal and Andorra.
The plant was inaugurated together with Salvador Illa, President of the Regional Government of Catalonia, and Alexander Bässler, Chief Executive Officer of the fischer Grou of Companies. The project is considered one of the most important industrial undertakings in the field of logistics digitization in the Tarragona region.
"This fully automated warehouse marks a new phase for our operative subsidiaries. It strengthens our logistics capacity on the Iberian Peninsula, our efficiency and our ability to continue to grow. The investment is the logical consequence of the continued growth of our company in the region over the past decade," explains company owner Prof. Klaus Fischer.
On an area of over 5,000 square meters, fischer relies on state-of-the-art technology: The so-called AutoStore system includes ten autonomous robots, more than 14,000 "intelligent" containers and AI-supported software to optimize order picking. The company significantly shortens the processing times of orders through digital process control and thus reacts flexibly to increasing demand.
In addition to the high level of automation and digitalization, the logistics centre impresses with its energy efficiency. The ten robots used consume about as much energy in operation as a conventional household vacuum cleaner, making the plant one of the most efficient automated logistics solutions in the world.
