As in one of the most popular residential areas northwest of the city centre three modern highly energy-efficient city mansions were built between the listed “Gründerzeit“-buildings.
The architects of the Leipzig studio pmhLE pursued their ambitious aim to bring in line the aspects urban living and green building. Every window of the 27 flats without a balcony had to be equipped with a fall protection from outside. The fixing system needed for this purpose had to meet several obligations: It had to avoid damaging the rendering, to bridge the insulation and to withstand considerable bending moments. The underground consisted of porous lightweight concrete. As a technical solution the stand-off installation system Thermax was used.
